Globalstar is planning to launch its next generation satelite fleet later this year and early next, to remedy this problem and upgrade services. In the meantime, Globalstar has also developed an Optimum Satellite Availability Tool which will provide you with a list of windows, based on your geographic location
If you need your satellite phone to work the first time, every time, then you should consider an Iridium or Inmarsat-Bgan product. However, if your needs are flexible and understand that it may take substantially longer to establish calls and that the duration of calls may be limited, then you should give consideration to purchasing a Globalstar phone.
